About the Artist Owners

(from left) Shirley Anderson, Barbara Seibel, Caryl Joy Young and Sue Shields -- each of these artists has a different art background, unique style and even preferred medium. Each has her own studio. What made these artists first form a paint group, then publish a book and ultimately open their own art gallery?

All retired, it seemed that they should have endless amounts of time to devote to art. That was not the case. Many other activities, projects, appointments, etc., seemed to take precedent over their art. They found common ground in the need for more time to paint, so they began to set aside Mondays for their paint group, called The Monday Studio. They are all very active in the greater Hot Springs art community -- whether it be displaying their art at Central Park Fusion Cuisine, entering or judging exhibitions and competitions, teaching workshops, painting and donating art to various charitable organizations, or participating in the many and specialized art associations in Arkansas. The book was the result of their desire to share their experience with other artists and those who just love art.

During their Monday Studio lunch breaks the four talked off and on about the perfect art gallery. Their cumulative experience over the years included hanging their own art as well as other art for exhibitions. They also shared the joys and frustrations of working to enhance a 30+ artist cooperative. Their dream gallery would take the best of what they have experienced, surrounding themselves with good art, in a great location.

When the great location became available, it was time to make a decision. Would they continue to dream or work to see their dream become reality? Gallery 726 is their answer.
